Job overview · The post holder will provide specialist 1:1 support to doctors and dentists in training on sensitive and complex issues to enable professional progression. · The role promotes wellbeing, improves training outcomes, and supports trainees to achieve their full potential. · It also includes delivering workshops, contributing to faculty development, and supporting PSU and HEIW strategy through data-driven interventions. Advert · The post holder will work within the Professional Support Unit (PSU) of the HEIW team, carrying out specialist work to support doctors and dentists in training. This includes providing 1:1, bespoke support, guidance, and advice on a range of sensitive, contentious, and complex situations – for example, health difficulties, bereavement, clinical incidents, and GMC referrals – to enable professional progression and development. · The role operates within specific professional guidelines and internal policies to promote wellbeing, improve progression through training, maximise attainment in examinations, minimise attrition, and support trainees in reaching their full potential to optimise their training experience. · In addition to individual support, the post holder will contribute to service user and faculty development through the design and delivery of workshops and presentations. They may also lead on elements of PSU and HEIW strategy, analysing data to identify patterns (e.g., Training Programme Director and Foundation Programme Director development, differential attainment programmes) and implementing targeted interventions. The role requires an experienced individual with the ability to unpick complex situations, identify the problems behind the problems, and deliver meaningful change for service users.
