Location: Based in Hessle with travel across Yorkshire, Lincs, Notts & Midlands
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, with flexibility required for travel
About the Role
Cranswick Farming Division is seeking to recruit a dedicated Welfare & Compliance Advisor to support the ongoing wellbeing, engagement, and development of colleagues across our pig farming operations.
The role will be responsible for ensuring supplier approval processes and associated animal welfare systems are delivered and maintained efficiently and effectively, in full compliance with legislative requirements and Cranswick standards, working collaboratively alongside the wider team.
This vital role that focuses on building strong, constructive relationships with on‑farm teams, promoting a positive and supportive working culture, and upholding the highest standards of animal welfare and compliance through regular on‑site visits, audits, and assessments.
Key Responsibilities
* Visit farms regularly to provide guidance and support to site teams
* Represent the business during external audits and stakeholder visits.
* Observe animal welfare and promptly report any concerns
* Build strong working relationships with staff, supporting a positive culture
* Maintain up-to-date records of visits, reports, and actions
* Promote biosecurity by adhering strictly to on-farm hygiene protocols (shower-in/shower-out)
* Communicate openly and empathetically with staff to understand their needs
* Help resolve day-to-day issues impacting welfare and compliance
* Collaborate with farm managers, vets, and internal departments to drive high standards
* Ensure all activity complies with Cranswick policies, assurance schemes (e.g. Red Tractor), and data protection protocols
* Support, coach, and audit farms to ensure best practices in animal welfare, biosecurity, and sustainability
What we’re looking for:
Excellent communication and people skills
* Proven experience in a compliance, animal welfare, or agricultural role ideally within a farming, food production, or agri-business setting
* Strong working knowledge of animal welfare legislation and standards (e.g., Red Tractor, RSPCA Assured, etc.)
* Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently
* Ability to multi‑task, work to deadlines, prioritise and complete tasks with a strong attention to detail.
* Experience or understanding of farm operations and livestock welfare
* A proactive and empathetic approach to supporting teams
* Comfortable working in a hands‑on, farm-based environment
* Willingness to travel extensively between sites
* Full UK Driving Licence required
