Personal Care Assistant - SEN School Simply Education is seeking a caring, reliable, and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to join a supportive and well-resourced special needs school located on the Royston border between Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire. The school provides high-quality, personalised education for children and young people aged 4-19 with a range of complex needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), communication needs, and sensory processing challenges. Role Overview As a Personal Care Assistant, you will provide essential personal and mobility support to pupils with complex needs, while also helping them engage in daily routines and classroom activities. Key Responsibilities Provide personal care including toileting, hygiene, feeding, dressing, and changing. Support pupils with mobility needs using hoists and specialist equipment (training provided). Assist pupils with Autism, ADHD, and severe learning needs in following structured routines and lessons. Use communication tools such as visual schedules, symbols, and sensory supports. Promote independence, emotional regulation, and positive engagement. Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff. Maintain confidentiality and accurate documentation in line with school safeguarding policies. What We're Looking For A background in care is warmly welcomed, including elderly care, domiciliary care, healthcare assistant roles, or SEN care. Experience supporting individuals with Autism, ADHD, SLD, or PMLD is desirable but not essential. A patient, nurturing, and resilient approach. Ability to follow routines, individual care plans, and safeguarding procedures. Strong communication and teamwork skills. A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
