Accounts Payable Assistant Location: Cambridge Department: Finance Contract: 6 Months (Full-time, likelihood of extension) Company: Aerospace and Defence Salary: £15.97ph Hybrid 3 days onsite Job Purpose: The Accounts Payable Assistant supports the maintenance of the purchase ledger, ensuring invoices and expenses are processed promptly. Responsibilities include processing purchase ledger invoices and expenses, collaborating with others within the accounts payable team, timely payments to suppliers and employees, resolving account queries, reconciling supplier accounts, and supporting the finance function of the fleet management division. Accountability: The Accounts Payable Assistant shares responsibility for the maintenance and accuracy of the purchase ledger. Responsibilities: • Control and upkeep the purchase ledger accounts • Maintain accuracy of vendor details • Control various accounting schedules • Maintain ongoing relationships with suppliers • Monitor and maintain accounts payable inbox • Process all invoices received daily, ensuring accuracy • Code invoices for the general ledger • Manage and control outstanding purchase orders daily • Maintain invoice register and create chase lists • Follow up invoice queries with internal and external suppliers • Assist with BACS payments to suppliers and employees • Reconcile all supplier statements to the purchase ledger • Perform other ad hoc duties as required Capability: • Outstanding attention to detail and ability to reconcile complex accounts • Accurate, efficient, and organized with task prioritization skills • Strong relationship-building skills with external clients and internal colleagues • Team player mindset, contributing to an open and productive work environment Technical Competencies: • Intermediate knowledge of Excel and other MS Office packages • IFS Systems desirable Education: • Essential: 5 GCSE or equivalent grade C or above Experience: • Experience in a similar role • Knowledge and experience of ERP systems preferred Additional Requirement: • Must be able to pass BPSS clearance. • Have the right to work in the UK
