At Kingfisher Vets, we’re inviting you to join a team where your passion for veterinary care will be valued and your wellbeing supported. We’re looking for a dedicated Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our warm, welcoming team at our Crewkerne branch in South Somerset.

Our Crewkerne branch has been refurbished and offers a clinical environment with:
* Two modern operating theatres
* Fully equipped dental suite with digital dental X-ray

* Dedicated isolation unit, spacious dispensary, three consult rooms
* Calm reception with separate cat and dog waiting areas
* Staff rest area with a well-stocked biscuit tin
Your Day, Your Way
Most vets enjoy a mix of consulting and surgery, but a consult-only role can be accommodated. We primarily treat dogs and cats, with occasional rabbits, guinea pigs or ferrets. Surgeries include routine procedures such as spays, castrates, dentals, lump removals and soft tissue surgeries. We can refer more complex cases if needed.
We’ve invested in top-of-the-line equipment to support your care, including a new ultrasound, video endoscopy, digital X-ray, ECG, tonometer, and multi-parameter monitoring.
A Team That Supports You — Every Step of the Way
You’ll work with a team of 6 experienced vets (including one with a certificate in Small Animal Medicine), 18 RVNs, 2 student nurses, and a strong support crew. Regular visits from an orthopaedic surgeon provide access to additional expertise in-house. Teamwork, caring for each other, clients and patients, and a collaborative environment are core to our culture.
We support charitable involvement with national and local charities such as Cats Protection, Guide Dogs and RSPCA.
Work-Life Balance
Flexible rota patterns and hours to fit your lifestyle. Full-time options are 40 hours per week over 4 days with a share of Saturday mornings (8:30–1). No out-of-hours requirements. Part-time arrangements can be considered for the right candidate.
Investment in You
We back your professional development with funded CPD, encouragement, and time to grow at your own pace. We provide certificate support and learning opportunities via the IVC Evidensia Academy, with access to Vetlexicon. Our vets and nurses can apply for research funding, and there is a Care Fund with annual allowances. Infection Prevention and Control and Quality Improvement programmes are in place.
