We are seeking a friendly, organised, and professional School Receptionist to join a busy primary school in Chelmsford, starting ASAP. This is a key front-of-house role, ensuring that pupils, parents, staff, and visitors are greeted warmly and that the school office runs efficiently. The school has a welcoming, inclusive ethos, and the Receptionist plays a vital role in creating a professional and well-organised school environment. You will support staff, parents, and pupils by managing enquiries, communications, and general office tasks. Key Responsibilities Greet pupils, parents, and visitors in a warm and professional manner Answer and direct telephone calls and emails promptly Manage daily attendance records and visitor sign-in procedures Support general school administrative tasks, including filing and data entry Assist with communication between staff, parents, and leadership Maintain confidentiality and adhere to GDPR and safeguarding policies Coordinate appointments, meetings, and school events Support the management of pupil records and reporting processes Ensure the reception area is tidy, welcoming, and safe Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Have previous experience in a school or office reception role Be professional, friendly, and approachable Have excellent organisational and multitasking skills Be proficient in Microsoft Office and school management systems Have strong communication and interpersonal skills Be reliable, proactive, and adaptable Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing The school is located in Chelmsford, with excellent transport links and a supportive, diverse community.
