BMS Field Service Engineer Location: Taunton, Somerset (Candidates must reside within approximately 45 minutes of the service area) Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 Basic Bonus Company Vehicle/Allowance Excellent Benefits Type: Permanent, Full-Time Overview An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Field Service Engineer to join a global leader in building automation and energy management solutions. The business is seeking an ambitious and customer-focused engineer to support a diverse portfolio of commercial and industrial customers across the Taunton region. This role would suit either an experienced BMS Engineer or a technically strong Electrical, Controls, Automation, HVAC, or Service Engineer looking to transition into the Building Management Systems (BMS) sector. Full product and industry training will be provided for the right individual. The Role As a BMS Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting building automation systems across a varied customer base, ensuring systems operate efficiently, safely, and reliably. Working directly with customers on-site, you will deliver planned and reactive maintenance, identify system improvements, and provide technical support while building strong long-term customer relationships. Key Responsibilities Deliver planned preventative maintenance and reactive service support across customer sites. Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on building automation and control systems. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, acting as a trusted technical advisor. Produce clear and professional service reports following site visits. Identify opportunities for system improvements, upgrades, repairs, and energy-saving initiatives. Support customers with operational issues and recommend appropriate solutions. Work closely with Operations and Sales teams to identify and develop larger project opportunities. Participate in the team call-out rota when required. Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company safety procedures and industry regulations. Essential Skills Electrical qualification or strong electrical engineering background. Experience working in a field-based engineering, service, maintenance, commissioning, controls, automation, or industrial environment. Previous customer-facing experience. Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills. Full UK driving licence. Ability to work independently and manage a regional customer base. Desirable Skills Previous experience working with Building Management Systems (BMS). Knowledge of HVAC systems and building services. PLC, SCADA, controls, automation, instrumentation, or industrial control system experience. Experience identifying improvement opportunities and delivering technical recommendations to customers.
