Position: Network EngineerLocation: Home/Office/Customer PremisesSalary: £50-£65K My client is a modern managed services provider delivering integrated IT and communications solutions and is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Engineer to join their team. The Network Engineer will be responsible for implementing, and managing network infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in networking technologies, excellent leadership abilities, and a proven track record of successfully leading network projects. Responsibilities:
* Design, implement, and maintain our organization's computer network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless networks.
* Evaluate and recommend network technologies and solutions to improve performance, reliability, and security.
* Work within a team of network engineers and technicians, providing guidance, training, and support to internal and external customers as needed.
* Collaborate with other IT teams and departments to ensure seamless integration of network systems with other technologies and applications.
* Develop and maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, configuration settings, and operating procedures.
* Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network issues, identifying and resolving problems promptly for our Managed Service Clients.
* Implement and enforce network security policies and procedures to protect against unauthorised access, data breaches, and other security threats.
* Plan and execute network upgrades, migrations, and expansion projects, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
* Stay up-to-date on emerging network technologies and industry trends, and make recommendations for their adoption as appropriate.
Qualifications:
* 5+ years of experience in implementing, and managing enterprise-level computer networks.
* Strong skills in LAN and Wifi preferred
* Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, SD Wan routing, and switching.
* Hands-on experience with network equipment such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points from leading vendors (HP, Alcatel, Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, etc.).
* Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team.
* Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with a methodical approach to resolving complex network issues.
* Experience with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Wireshark).
* Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+) preferred.
