Site Project Manager – Solar PV & BESS
About the job
As the Site Project Manager, you will be pivotal in our renewable energy projects, specifically in managing the full lifecycle of our utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. These projects involve UK planning, permitting, and grid connection processes. Your proven experience of managing solar PV and BESS projects will be instrumental in driving your projects forward and finding practical solutions to complex issues whilst delivering high-quality results.
Ideally, you will be within a reasonable commute to Stockton-on-Tees and on-site at least three days a week. You'll also need to be prepared to travel to other sites across the UK when required, with occasional overnight stays. This is a PAYE permanent position.
What you will do
* Lead and coordinate the project from initiation through to handover, ensuring on-time delivery, cost control, quality and health and safety standards are adhered to
* Provide input during tenders and project planning, contributing to scheduling and risk assessments during the early stages, contract negotiations, ensuring accurate scopes of work and programmes
* Work closely with internal departments, external partners, and stakeholders to align goals, share progress, and solve challenges as they arise
* Identify potential risks early, implement mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with company standards
* Use established project management frameworks, tools, and governance models to ensure consistency and control during the different project phases
* Management of contractors, sub-contractors, and internal resources to safely conduct construction and commissioning activities, HS&E compliance, including the requirements of CDM Regulations and quality management
* Provide DSEAR file, handover pack, and deliver training to assist in the operation and management of the projects
* Lead initiatives for the continuous improvement of project management processes and methodologies
What experience you will bring
* Experience in project or site management in renewables, engineering, or construction
* Strong understanding of project governance, methodologies, and best practices
* Experience in client-side project/site management with strong planning skills, with the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
* Knowledge of UK and Local regulatory frameworks and renewable energy industry standards
* Strong understanding of UK planning, permitting, and grid connection processes
* Comprehensive knowledge of UK Health and Safety compliance and standards
* In-depth knowledge of industry regulations, standards, and best practices related to grid connections and interconnections
* You are proactive and structured with a problem-solving mindset and can deal with potential issues and address concerns independently
* Willingness to travel with occasional overnight stays to other sites based across the UK and a full UK driving licence
