Astute's Nuclear team is partnering with a specialist provider of engineering, consultancy, waste management and decommissioning solutions for complex projects in highly regulated environments, delivering safe, cost-effective outcomes across the nuclear project lifecycle with deep technical expertise and collaborative client partnerships.
They are looking to recruit a Head of Engineering to spearhead the engineering department and work across the senior leadership team to deliver strategic engineering management across civil nuclear and defence projects.
The Head of Engineering comes with a salary between £90,000 - £100,000 and competitive benefits.

Responsibilities and duties
Reporting to the Managing Director you will:
Provide strategic leadership of the engineering function, aligning engineering plans, capability and delivery with overall business objectives.
Act as the senior engineering interface with clients, partners and internal stakeholders, ensuring effective engagement and integrated delivery.
Lead, develop and mentor multi-disciplinary engineering teams, promoting high performance, succession planning and future talent development.
Own engineering capability, resourcing, competence and training frameworks to ensure capacity, SQEP compliance and long-term sustainability.
Drive continuous improvement of engineering processes, standards and QSHEW compliance across all engineering activities.
Identify, manage and mitigate engineering risks, maintaining risk registers and ensuring regulatory and governance compliance.
Support business winning activities through technical leadership, bid support, client engagement and promotion of engineering capability.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
Degree Qualified in Engineering or Technical disciplines.
Personal skills
The Head of Engineering role would suit someone who has:
Experience working in a Senior Leadership position across multi-discipline teams
Significant capability in management, and acting as a point of contact for internal and external key stakeholders
Management of engineering and project risk teams
Broad engineering knowledge in a regulated environment (nuclear, rail, heavy engineering, chemical, oil & gas, Petrochem, water treatment).
An interest in growing and developing company divisions.
Salary and benefits of the Head of Engineering
A base salary between £90,000 - £100,000 depending on experience.
