Exciting Opportunity in Pediatric Behavioral Health Integration
At Beacon Pediatrics, we have made behavioral health an integral part of our primary care services. Our primary care providers work hand in hand with behavioral health clinicians to help the children and families we care for.
We are seeking a compassionate and collaborative Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) to join our clinical provider team to deliver fully integrated behavioral health services to our patients. Working within our family-centered medical home, the behavioral health clinician will provide brief, evidence-based behavioral health interventions to children, adolescents and their families. This role emphasizes early identification, prevention, and short-term interventions to support mental and behavioral well-being in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide brief, targeted, and solution-focused interventions for a wide range of behavioral health issues (e.g. anxiety, depression, ADHD, sleep issues, behavioral challenges, trauma)
* Collaborate with pediatric providers to develop integrated treatment plans addressing both physical and behavioral health needs
* Conduct same-day consultations with patients referred by the pediatric providers, utilizing a warm handoff approach
* Offer psychoeducation to children, families, and staff on behavioral health topics
* Participate in case reviews, team huddles, and interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure comprehensive care
* Provide screening and risk assessments (e.g. SSRI follow-ups, suicide risk, substance use, developmental or behavioral concerns)
* Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (Epic)
* Support care coordination, including referrals to specialty mental health services when needed
* Assist the primary care team in developing care management processes, such as the use of guidelines, disease management techniques, case management, and patient education, to improve patient self-management
* Help evolve the practices integration efforts, by identifying problems and making recommendations for improvement
Qualifications:
* A Master’s Degree in a mental health field, from an accredited graduate program, and a license for independent practice in Massachusetts (LICSW, LMHC, LMFT) is required
* Minimum of 1-2 years experience working with children, adolescents, and families is required
* Experience in integrated care or primary care behavioral health model is highly desirable
* Proficiency in brief, evidenced-based interventions, such as CBT, motivational interviewing, parent coaching and trauma-informed care
* Candidates should have a proven record of collaborative service delivery, outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and the flexibility and adaptability required to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented, busy medical practice.
* Excel at communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
* Exceptional time management skills
Preferred Skills:
* Familiarity with developmental screening tools and integrated care metrics
* Knowledge of social determinants of health and trauma-informed practices
* Experience with Epic
This role provides significant opportunities to participate in high quality, CE-accredited, clinical education, through our partnership with Boston Children’s Hospital, and the Pediatric Physicians’ Organization at Children’s, at no cost.
Schedule and Salary Information:
Full-time opportunity for 30-40 hours a week.
Salary starting at $58,000 per year, based on years of experience
