Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Diabetes Specialist Nurse (DSN) to join the multidisciplinary Diabetes Team at Scarborough Hospital.
Responsibilities
The post holder will be required to support the multidisciplinary diabetes team in the management of people with diabetes, taking a lead in the Ante‑natal diabetes service and young adult diabetes service. There is much emphasis on patient empowerment for self‑efficacy in the management of long‑term conditions; therefore the post holder will require excellent interpersonal skills. They will need to be able to motivate and lead others and act as an effective role model. Flexibility, creativity and adaptability are key personal attributes.

Candidates will be expected to demonstrate knowledge and awareness of the current clinical and professional issues affecting people with diabetes, incorporating high quality evidence in patient‑centred care. They will also demonstrate competency in teaching patients and healthcare professionals, supervision of team members and sharing good practice. Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams is essential, while a post‑registration qualification in diabetes would be ideal.
Interviews will be held in person only at Scarborough; remote interviews will not be available.
The validity of a Nursing and Midwifery Council PIN will be checked before shortlisting; inaccuracies in NMC PIN details will mean your application will not be progressed.
