Position: Learning Support Assistant

Reeson Education is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant to join an alternative provision in St Helens. This Learning Support Assistant role is a full-time, long-term position supporting young people aged 11 to 16 who experience social and emotional challenges, stress and anxiety, and difficulties in mainstream education.

Key Responsibilities for the Learning Support Assistant:
4. Work closely with students in class, providing academic and emotional support.
5. Help young people manage their emotions, build confidence, and re-engage with learning.
6. Support students with pastoral needs, ensuring they feel secure and supported.
7. Build trusting relationships with pupils who struggle in mainstream school settings.
8. Work alongside teachers and pastoral teams to create a positive and structured environment.
Requirements for the Learning Support Assistant:
9. Experience working with young people who have social, emotional, and mental health needs.
10. A calm, patient, and understanding approach to support.
11. Ability to build rapport and act as a trusted adult for students.
12. Experience in a Learning Support Assistant or pastoral role is highly desirable.
13. Commitment to a full-time, long-term learning support assistant position.
