We currently have an opportunity to join East Suffolk Council's Environmental Protection Team as an Environmental Protection Technical Officer.
The role
You will be responsible for delivering a range measures to protect the Environment, Human Health and our Communities by delivering interventions and statutory services for which the Council is responsible for.
You will undertake inspections and sampling in connection with a range of Environmental Protection matters including private water supplies, air quality, contaminated land and investigate complaints of statutory nuisance including noise, waste, pests, anti-social behaviour and enviro crime.
What You Will Need
* Knowledge of regulatory powers relating to Environmental Protection matters such as noise nuisance control, enviro-crime, air quality, contaminated land, water quality, private water supplies, pollution control, environmental permitting, statutory nuisance, private nuisance, public nuisance, pest control, waste, dog control, antisocial behaviour, licensing including animals, scrap metal and alcohol/licensable activities. Candidates will need to be familiar with some and not all of these topics.
* Relevant experience in Environmental Protection, Environmental Regulation or the management of Antisocial Behaviour in the public, private or voluntary sector
* Experience of interacting with members of the public in an advisory, regulatory or enforcement role and an experience of handling sensitive information or evidence.
