Join Our Team as a Payroll Specialist!
Are you ready to take your payroll expertise to the next level? LHH is excited to assist our client in finding a dedicated Payroll Specialist for a temp-to-perm position. This is a fantastic opportunity to work onsite five days a week, where your skills in union payroll processing will shine!
What You'll Do:
* Be the Payroll Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for employees, management, and union representatives, addressing questions and resolving concerns with professionalism and discretion.
* Lead and Inspire: Supervise, mentor, and guide payroll staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
* Collaborate Across Departments: Work closely with HR, finance, and union leadership to ensure accurate interpretation and application of collective bargaining agreements (CBAs).
* Administer Payroll Deductions: Manage and reconcile all payroll deductions and contributions, including union dues, insurance premiums, taxes, retirement plans, and fringe benefits.
* Ensure Compliance: Stay on top of all union mandates, labor regulations, and contract-specific payroll provisions—your union payroll expertise is a critical requirement.
* Audit Payroll Records: Regularly validate payroll records to ensure alignment with labor contracts and legal standards.
* Manage Payroll Processing: Oversee payroll for hourly and salaried staff, calculating overtime, shift premiums, and holiday pay in accordance with union contracts.
* Maintain Employee Records: Keep accurate and up-to-date employee records in the payroll system, reflecting all personnel changes.
* Deliver Payroll Reporting: Provide accurate payroll reports for internal stakeholders and external agencies, including compliance reports and tax filings.
* Stay Current: Research and implement changes to remain compliant with federal, state, and local payroll legislation, especially in unionized environments.
* Resolve Discrepancies: Take the lead in addressing payroll-related discrepancies, grievances, or disputes in a timely and contract-compliant manner.
* Support Job Costing: Accurately track labor hours and overhead across multiple departments or job sites to assist in expense allocation.
What We're Looking For:
* Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
* Experience: 3+ years of payroll processing experience, with a strong emphasis on union payroll.
* Skills: Proficient in payroll systems, with an analytical and problem-solving mindset.
* Multitasking Ability: Capable of prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
* Knowledge: Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll taxes and reporting requirements.
* Deadline-Driven: A commitment to meeting deadlines with accuracy.
Compensation & Benefits:
Pay Rate: $35.00 to $36.00 per hour
