The Children and Young Peoples Autism Service has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Therapy Practitioner to join the service.
The Assistant Therapy Practitioner will offer needs-led support and signposting to families and young people within the well-established CYP autism service.
This post is based in Anglesey House, Rugeley, but will include some potential for home visits to locations across South Staffordshire.
Main duties of the job
* Be competent as appropriate to the requirements of the role.
* Demonstrate at all times the trust values.
* Be responsible, under the guidance of a registered practitioner, for a defined population of service users in a variety of settings including clinics, schools and homes.
* Be skilled in supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of care/support packages under the direction of a registered practitioner.
* Have supervisory responsibilities as required and contribute to service developments.

Job responsibilities
We are looking for someone with experience, knowledge and a passion to provide needs-led intervention and support to children and young people with a diagnosis of Autism whilst supporting the service to improve the offer of intervention.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care or similar or demonstrate equivalent level of experience
* Knowledge of autism acquired through formal training or experience
* Training in Autism assessment tools: ADIR / ADOS
* Accredited training in Mental Health and/or Child Development and/or Neurodevelopment
Experience
* Experience of supporting family/carers/children and young people coping with autism
* Experience of working in Occupational Therapy / Speech and Language Therapy / Physiotherapy
* Previous experience of working with children and young people with autism
* Experience of contributing towards autism assessment in children and young people
* Working of collaborative working as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Experience of working in a community setting
