Assistant Director - Nursing/Midwifery/AHP (Band 8b)
The Assistant Director - Nursing /Midwifery/AHP post offers a unique opportunity for a registered nurse, midwife, or AHP to lead trustwide improvement programmes, uphold high professional standards, and contribute to the Trust's recognition as a centre of excellence. This role supports the implementation of the Safer Nursing Care tool and Quality Improvement initiatives to enhance care standards and promote innovation, leading to continuous patient care improvement and operational efficiency. The post holder will be a key member of the Corporate Nursing, Midwifery, and AHP team, contributing to the development, delivery, and achievement of the Trust's objectives.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
* Act as a key member of the Corporate Nursing, Midwifery, and AHP team, contributing to the development, delivery, and achievement of the Trust's objectives.
* Lead and advise on the implementation of Safer Staffing processes, including ward establishments, Safer Nursing Care Tool (SNCT), Rostering, and the Safer Care Module, in collaboration with HR teams.
* Lead the trust's NMAHP education and workforce agenda.
* Develop quality assurance frameworks, systems, and processes to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of initiatives against trust standards and relevant recommendations.
* Provide clinical leadership to support the delivery of the workforce agenda, ensuring safe, high-quality services.
* Be a proven change agent and role model, demonstrating visionary and innovative approaches to care, with a good understanding of health agendas. Inform education, training, and professional development to maintain a highly skilled workforce.
* Be a registered nurse, midwife, or AHP with senior leadership experience, high-level analytical skills, and knowledge of safer staffing systems and policy.

* Monitor and review temporary staffing performance and supply.
* Manage issues related to temporary staffing, including complaints and contractual arrangements.
Leadership
* Support clinical divisions and create effective workforce processes.
* Manage the NMAHP workforce and education teams.
* Lead workforce planning, recruitment, and service reconfiguration initiatives.
Communication
* Communicate complex information and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels.

* Oversee SNCT implementation, training, and reporting.
* Ensure compliance with national staffing recommendations.
Rostering
* Support rostering activities and system management.

* Review costs and ensure appropriate charges.

* Manage own development and NMC revalidation.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse, Midwife, or AHP
* Masters Degree or equivalent experience
* Postgraduate CPD
* Leadership and Management Qualification or equivalent
* SNCT training
Experience
* Experience managing services and resources
* Experience with staffing tools and reporting
