The role

Do you want to make a difference in people's lives?We are currently recruiting for a Housing Support Worker to join our STARS team in Huddersfield. This role is 24 hours per week, to be worked Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, with an annual salary of £18,917. Benefits include 6 weeks holiday plus bank holidays (pro rata for part-time hours), employee loan scheme up to £1200 and excellent career development opportunities, including an Aspiring Leaders Programme.As a Housing Support Worker at our Substance, Tenancy, and Resettlement Service (STARS), you will work in partnership with the people we support to devise a tailored support plan and support them in achieving their individual goals. This may include helping them to access welfare and supporting them to attend any appointments. You will also be responsible for housing management, the welfare of the people we support, undertaking welfare checks and following safeguarding policies.What you will need:Be empathetic and caring, showing understanding and respect to people experiencing difficult circumstancesHave excellent communication and listening skills, with the ability to recognise the people we support as experts in their own livesBe resilient and adaptable with the ability to think on your feet, prioritise tasks, and make sound decisions in line with our proceduresBe personable and kind, with the ability to go above and beyond whilst maintaining professional boundariesHave a commitment to your ongoing personal and professional developmentPlease note this role requires a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle which can be insured for business use.Horton Housing is committed to safe and fair recruitment, safeguarding, and protecting the people that we support.Positions here at Horton require a fully completed application form with any gaps explored back to the age of 18, as well as a right to work check, two references and a DBS check to identify and reject applicants who are unsuitable to work with children or vulnerable adults.Please be aware that Horton Housing Association is not a sponsoring organisation.
