The opportunity
Expanded Structures, the specialist reinforced concrete basement, sub and superstructure frame construction division of Laing O'Rourke, is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor for the Stansted project at the airport.
The project involves constructing the northern extension to the existing Stansted Airport Terminal, providing additional space for holidaymakers before heading to the gates.
Role responsibilities include:
* All Senior Quantity Surveying duties including measurement, valuation, and agreement of work sections.
* PCSA and main works responsibility.
* Preparation and management of interim applications for payment and certifications.
* Drafting, managing, and settling subcontracts.
* Management and reporting of monthly costs.
* Drafting and preparation of claims.
* Preparation and agreement of final account.
* Managing trainees, assistant QS, and QS.
* Negotiating with client representatives, subcontractors, and other consultants to achieve project results while maintaining relationships.
* Advising project management on contractual implications.
* Advising on commercial risks.
* Preparing and managing project financial reports and contractual inputs.
* Assisting with establishing the project budget.
* Managing change control processes.
* Ensuring proper execution of contract documents before project start.
* Communicating clearly and confidently to a professional standard.
* Keeping management informed of issues or risks.
Required skills & experience:
* NEC contract knowledge.
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
* Interest in learning about risk and opportunity management.
* Drive to grow professionally.
