Head of Care Rhiwlas Care Home Care - Full time, Permanent
We are seeking to appoint a caring, motivated, and experienced Head of Care to join our team. The role involves overseeing our Residential Communities and Senior Care Assistants, reporting directly to our Home Manager and Deputy Home Manager. The position is full-time, primarily days, with the possibility of covering absences and night audit visits. The successful candidate will support leadership within the care team and ensure effective 24-hour management of the home within available resources. We offer a competitive hourly rate of £15.65. Shift times are 0800-2000, with alternate weekends required. Applicants must have NVQ Level 3 or above in Health and Social Care, along with medication management and administration experience.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Manage the overall operation of the Community.
2. Ensure quality of care assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and staff training to maintain high standards of resident care.
3. Coordinate activities of care and nursing staff during shifts.
4. Dispense medication in accordance with Medication Policy.
5. Build relationships with external professionals and liaise with health and social care providers as needed.
6. Communicate with relatives and residents during shifts.
7. Handle emergency situations related to the building, residents, staff, or services.
8. Maintain building safety during each shift.
9. Provide hands-on, person-centered care to residents.
10. Observe and report changes in residents' needs.
11. Deliver care in line with best practices.
12. Document daily resident care records.
13. Update care plans to reflect changes in residents’ needs.
Skills and Experience Required:
1. Experience in Elderly care is essential.
2. NVQ Level 3 or above in Health and Social Care.
3. At least 2 years' experience in a care home setting.
4. Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act (2005), including DoLS and the Equality Act (2010).
5. Strong care planning skills.
6. Professional appearance and manner.
7. Ability to coordinate and motivate a team.
8. Effective prioritization and emergency handling skills.
9. Empathetic listener and communicator.
