Job Overview
A position has become available for a band 8B clinical physiologist to work in neurophysiology, based at the National Society for Epilepsy, Sir William Gowers Ward, in Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire. This unit is part of University College Hospital, coming under the umbrella of the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.
The EEG service at Chalfont undertakes highly complex specialist diagnostic tests for adults in an outpatient and inpatient setting.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform video‑EEG telemetry, home video‑telemetry, ambulatory EEG, prolonged EEG with video and routine EEGs on a 22‑bed ward with 6 video‑EEG telemetry beds.
* Lead a team of six physiologists (total team WTE 7), managing absences, workload and ensuring an appropriate skill mix is present for booked tests.
* Provide and coordinate a high‑quality video‑EEG telemetry service, prolonged video‑EEG, ambulatory EEG studies, home video‑EEG studies and routine EEGs for service users.
* Inspire, support and ensure excellence in all aspects of team performance; encourage relevant and challenging continual professional development.
* Ensure all tests are performed to the highest quality, providing assistance to junior or inexperienced members where needed.
* Undertake interpretation of results, complete accurate factual reports and, if necessary, communicate findings directly with the consultant neurophysiologist.
* Participate in quality assurance and audit activities within the department and on a regional basis.
* Ensure compliance with professional guidelines and the UCLH governance framework.
Working Hours
8:30 – 4:30 Monday – Friday (hours may change over time).
