Overview:
Join our dynamic team as a Production Engineer at Ashgarth Engineering. We are seeking a dedicated individual to provide essential support for our innovative products. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring customer satisfaction and product success.
This role is key in ensuring jobs are fully prepared for production — from tooling and process planning through to supporting the shop floor. You'll work closely with colleagues across engineering, operations, and production to deliver high-quality machining processes efficiently and on time.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Production Engineering department with process planning and pre-production readiness.
* Create and optimise CAM programs for CNC milling and turning.
* Implement and maintain tooling and workholding strategies.
* Help maintain CAM and setup standards.
* Assist in resolving shop floor issues related to programs, tooling, or setups.
* Complete BOMs and routings in the ERP system.
* Collaborate with machinists to ensure smooth handover of jobs into production.
* Identify and deliver continuous improvement initiatives across production.
* Work with tooling suppliers/reps to improve cycle times and optimise machining processes.
* Analyse and refine existing processes to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
Experience / Skills
* Previous experience in CNC machining or production engineering.
* Competent in CAM programming (Fusion 360 experience preferred).
* Strong understanding of tooling, fixtures, and machining processes.
* Comfortable working with ERP/MRP systems.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Good communication skills for cross-team collaboration.
* Proactive and organised, with a focus on continuous improvement.
* Experience in process optimisation, lean, or Kaizen activities would be an advantage.
Desirable Experience
* Experience with 5-axis machining.
* Knowledge of designing for automation and batch quantities, i.e. tombstones, fixtures and jigs.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
