Salary: £43,696
15% Shift allowance

Location: Craigentinny Train Maintenance Centre, Edinburgh

Accountabilities
In this exciting role, you will be responsible for undertaking corrective and preventative maintenance, servicing and repair of Hitachi rolling stock assets. This is a permanent position offering the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment that values collaboration, adaptability, and innovation. You will be working on a rotating day and night shift basis, contributing to the safe and efficient operation of our rail services.
Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:
1. Perform Scheduled Maintenance activities on rolling stock within a TMC environment in accordance with vehicle maintenance instructions
2. Undertake servicing and preparation of the rolling stock.
3. Undertake driving duties within depot confines in accordance with the depot operating procedures and instructions
4. Actively participate in the ongoing continuous improvement activities for maintenance processes and maintenance procedures that support all depot and fleet activities
5. Ensure exam tasks are being completed in a timely manner, undertake fault rectification or repair when required.
6. Adherence to all health and safety processes and procedures.
7. Attendance at testing locations, main line station and outstations to undertake preventative and corrective maintenance as required.
8. Must be prepared to travel and overnight away from base location for short periods of time.
9. Support the Maintenance Team Leaders and Duty Shift Managers in the delivery of the production plan.
10. Record all work activities and stock consumption using the maintenance management system in accordance with maintenance processes and procedures.
11. Working shifts to meet the service requirements of multiple customers.

About you
Required Skills/ Knowledge
13. Manual Handling, COSHH, working at height, Powered plant and tools.
14. Experience of working a 24/7 shift roster in a modern maintenance environment
15. Outstanding Safety Awareness.
16. Modern fault finding and repair techniques using pc-based laptops and remote diagnostics.
17. Extensive experience of modern maintenance management systems (MMS) and associated reliability and available trend analysis.
18. Reading electrical, pneumatic, mechanical schematics and drawings reading
Education/Qualifications
19. Served apprenticeship with mechanical, electrical disciplines.
20. Engineering based NVQ level 2 and 3.

21. Can comfortably work within a team or on their own
22. Sound knowledge of, and compliance to, rules and regulations (internal and external)
23. Always represent Hitachi in a professional manner
24. Calm and diplomatic under pressure.
25. Ability to investigate complex electrical and mechanical faults and write detailed reports.
26. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
27. Able to interface effectively with all levels of personnel both within and outside the company.
28. Loyal, committed, confident and determined.
Desired Skills (not essential)
29. Intermediate IT skills – typically Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
30. Fire warden, First Aider
31. Working at Height, COSHH, Manual handling, AC/DC Depot isolation
