Job Overview
As a junior pharmacist with on‑call responsibilities you will be integral in providing a 24‑hour pharmacy service across the three university hospitals. You will work a variety of on‑call shifts, including evenings, weekends and nights, and provide core pharmacy services such as advising medical and nursing staff, processing urgent discharges, supplying emergency medication, releasing unlicensed medication and processing adult and paediatric parenteral nutrition.
Responsibilities
* Provide a core pharmacy service during on‑call shifts across all three sites.
* Participate in a rotational programme gaining experience in specialties including Emergency, Specialist Medicine, General Surgery/Orthopaedics, Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery, Respiratory Medicine, Oncology/Hematology/Aseptics, Renal and Transplant Medicine, Paediatrics and Women's Health, and Regional Medicines Information Centre.
* Deliver ward‑based pharmacy services as part of a multidisciplinary team on a 3 days on, 3 days off rota between 8 am and 8 pm.
* Work closely with medical, nursing and pharmacy teams to undertake medicines reconciliation, review prescribing, optimise medicines use and screen discharge prescriptions.
* Participate in ward‑based training, assessments and clinical teaching seminars.
* Maintain effective and safe pharmaceutical care and ensure timely provision of services.
Qualifications
* Well developed communication and organisational skills.
* Desire for self‑development and a proactive approach to learning.
* Ability to work independently during extended opening hours and on varied shifts.
* Experience or training in clinical pharmacy is desirable.
