Junior Mechanical Engineer - Food Production & Packaging

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading food production and packaging operation in Suffolk. The site is a high-volume, fast-paced facility processing and packing fresh produce for national distribution year‑round.
This is a mechanically focused maintenance role, supporting the reliability, uptime, and performance of automated production equipment across site.
Key Responsibilities
* Mechanical maintenance, repair, and servicing of production and packaging equipment
* Responding to breakdowns and carrying out fault diagnosis in live production environments
* Working on conveyors, drive systems, bearings, gearboxes, pumps, wash systems, and packaging machinery
* Supporting planned preventative maintenance schedules
* Assisting with installation, adjustments, and continuous improvement work
* Working across production areas, workshop spaces, and chilled environments

* Monday to Friday structure with occasional weekend cover during peak periods

What We're Looking For
* Background in mechanical maintenance (industrial, FMCG, agricultural, or similar)
* Strong hands‑on fault‑finding and repair capability
* Understanding of core mechanical systems such as conveyors, motors, pumps, and gearboxes
* Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, production‑led environment
* Willingness to develop technically and take on increasing responsibility
