Overview
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Clinical Fellow to join our dynamic Medicine team at Royal Preston Hospital or Chorley & South Ribble District General Hospital. The role offers a supportive and educationally focused environment with opportunities to gain experience in all main medical sub‑specialties.
Responsibilities
* Provide junior‑level experience (equivalent to FY2/ST1‑2).
* Work closely with GP and Emergency Department colleagues, accepting patients for assessment in the SDEC.
* Support senior doctors with ward jobs and clerking.
* Perform invasive procedures such as lumbar puncture, ascitic paracentesis (diagnostic and therapeutic) and pleural aspiration.
* Contribute to day‑to‑day functioning of medical units and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
Qualifications
* Junior‑level clinical experience (equivalent to FY2/ST1‑2).
* Experience working in a teaching hospital and exposure to major medical sub‑specialties.
* Willingness to learn and perform invasive procedures such as lumbar puncture, ascitic paracentesis and pleural aspiration.
* Good communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
