Working pattern: 37 hours per week, Term Time, plus 15 days
Overview
We are seeking a proactive leader to strategically influence student outcomes by maximising attendance. The Education Welfare Officer/Attendance Manager will lead the attendance team, drive whole‑school strategies, and ensure students have access to learning.
Responsibilities
* Lead the attendance team and apply the academy’s attendance and punctuality policy.
* Identify children in need of support due to absence, assess need, plan and implement effective interventions.
* Conduct home visits, coordinate joint work with safeguarding agencies.
* Manage the legal framework by identifying cases for referral for court proceedings or Penalty Notices, preparing evidence, and acting as witness when required.
* Prepare and analyse regular data reports for senior leadership and lead attendance panels or fast‑track meetings.
Qualifications
* Relevant Level 3 qualification or equivalent professional qualification.
* Experience using an education welfare, social work, or counselling approach to work with parents and children.
* Strong background in record keeping and report writing.
* Knowledge of the legislative framework governing school attendance.
* Ability to undertake assessments, write reports to a high standard, and work effectively in conflict‑ridden situations.
