About the role:
We currently have an opportunity for an instrumentation, control & automation (ICA) technician to work in our Latton or Newbury sites, depending on your location.
As the successful candidate, you will work in multi-disciplinary teams alongside operational teams such as systems, mechanical, and electrical technicians. You will be responsible for installing, modifying, and commissioning plant equipment to standards, diagnosing faults, and implementing repairs. You will also identify and report improvements to assets and systems.
This role offers a chance to contribute to Thames Water's environmental goals by reducing pollution from our sites.
What you’ll be doing as the ICA Technician
* Perform instrumentation, control, and automation maintenance on water production assets, including planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance. Liaise with contractors and suppliers as needed.
* Investigate plant failures, implement repairs swiftly to prevent supply disruptions, and conduct risk assessments with method statements for safety.
* Provide technical advice, support training for trainees, and contribute to project development and capital projects.
Base Location: Latton, Cirencester or Speen - Newbury, depending on your location.
Working Pattern: 38 hours, Monday-Friday, 7:30 am – 3:36 pm, with standby and overtime opportunities that can increase earnings by £8,000-£10,000.
All PPE, tools, van, and fuel card are provided.
What you should bring to the role
* Practical understanding of operational plant and control systems, including Wonderware (desirable), ClearSCADA, relay logic, and PLCs (Rockwell & Allen Bradley). Ability to read circuit diagrams and fault find, with experience in inverter drives.
* Experience working with instrumentation like flow meters, pressure sensors, ultrasonics, and telemetry.
* Qualifications such as HNC, City and Guilds Part 2, NVQ Level 3 in electrical subjects, or equivalent.
* Ability to prioritize, self-motivate, and hold a valid driving license.
