The Role;

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Job Coach to support learners with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in achieving meaningful work-based learning and employment outcomes. Working closely with students, employers, families, and staff, you will coach and guide young people with SEND to develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed for the workplace. This role involves job matching, employer engagement, on-site support, and promoting inclusive employment practices across a range of settings. The role will be predominantly in a catering environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide tailored coaching and support to learners with SEND in their work placements.
2. Collaborate with tutors, managers, employers, families, and external agencies to create a supportive work environment.
3. Assist learners in building essential skills, such as time management, customer service, and catering.
4. Conduct health and safety checks and create risk assessments for work placements.
5. Develop and adapt employability plans to meet individual needs, promoting growth and independence.
6. Support learners in overcoming barriers to employment and ensure their well-being at all times.

Our ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills, and experience:

* Experience supporting young people with SEND in work settings.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Commitment to creating inclusive work opportunities for people with SEND.
* Relevant teaching or coaching qualifications (e.g., Level 4 CET or equivalent).
* Experience in the hospitality industry is desirable.

You may be based at one of two locations: Newham Library or New Beans Café, Newham College.

The salary includes London weighting. The College generally offers roles at the entry point of the advertised salary scale, but higher offers may be made based on experience and qualifications.
