Overview
Pharmacy Technician: As a Pharmacy Technician at Gate2Pharma, you will support pharmacists in the accurate and safe supply of medicines and pharmacy services. You will work collaboratively with the pharmacy team to ensure patients receive their medications and advice in a professional, timely, and patient-centered manner. You will also assist with dispensary operations, inventory management, and administrative duties in line with UK regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
* Dispensing & Medicines Supply
o Accurately prepare, assemble, label and supply prescription medicines and healthcare products under the supervision of a pharmacist.
o Check prescriptions for completeness and legal accuracy, and process electronic prescriptions using the pharmacy system.
o Support repeat prescription handling and efficient workflow through the dispensary.
* Patient Support & Communication
o Provide friendly, professional customer service and answer patient enquiries about medicines, referring clinical/complex queries to the supervising pharmacist.
o Communicate clearly with patients and healthcare professionals, by phone or digital channels.
* Inventory & Operational Duties
o Maintain stock levels, organise supplies, monitor expiry dates and assist with ordering and stock control.
o Ensure the dispensary and working areas are kept clean, compliant and well-organised.
* Regulatory Compliance & Documentation
o Adhere to all pharmacy regulations and professional standards set by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
o Maintain accurate records for dispensing, controlled drugs, returns and pharmacy documentation.
* Teamwork & Support
o Work cooperatively with pharmacists and support staff to deliver safe, efficient services.
o Participate in training, quality improvement initiatives and contribute to good pharmacy governance.
Qualifications
* Essential
o Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a Pharmacy Technician.
o Relevant pharmacy technician qualification or accredited training with practical experience.
o Strong attention to detail, accuracy and a methodical approach to work.
o Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with patients and colleagues.
o Good organisational, IT and record-keeping skills.
* Desirable
o Experience in a community pharmacy or NHS pharmacy setting.
o Familiarity with pharmacy dispensing software and electronic prescription services.
o Understanding of clinical and OTC products, and patient-centered pharmacy care.
