The Company
My client is a design and fit-out company with an extensive portfolio of blue chip clients across the UK. Specialising in design, refurbishment, fit-out, design & build and relocation management they work alongside facilities departments, developers, building surveyors and commercial property agents to set industry standards in design, restructuring and refurbishment of projects in the commercial office, student accommodation and hotel sectors.
The Assistant Quantity Surveyor Role
They are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor based in Nottingham, whose main job purpose be an active role with assisting with the implementation of all commercial aspects of the project through working closely with the Surveyor/Senior Surveyor and site delivery team, while continuing to learn and develop your understanding of all aspects of a project through day-to-day involvement
Other duties would include;
Assist the commercial team, where necessary, to implement work winning strategy at procurement stage
Understanding how to identify any risks and opportunities
Engagement with subcontractors including assisting with tender enquiries
Assisting the Project Procurement in accordance with delivery programme
Assist in the implementation of the Tender Event Schedule
Preparing Tender Documentation
Analyse tender returns and being part of the negotiation process through to proposing subcontractor
Preparation of Sub-Contract Orders
Responsibility for selected trade packages
The Successful Assistant Quantity Surveyor:
Knowledge of the construction process including both new build and fit-out / refurbishment.
Experience in the majority of the above roles & responsibilities
Degree qualified or NVQ, BTEC or Higher National equivalent
1 to 3 years full time experience in a surveying role with a leading reputable main / principal contractor
Good knowledge and understanding of Word and Excel packages
Good verbal and written communication skills
