Join Our Team as a Children's Home Deputy Manager!

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? At Dove Adolescent Services, we believe in empowering youth to develop emotional resilience and reach their full potential. Our mission is to foster positive, healthy relationships and prepare young individuals for successful transitions into adulthood. We are excited to invite a dedicated Deputy Manager to join our established 4-bed home in Barnsley.


About the Role

As our Deputy Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting the Registered Manager with the daily operations of the home. Your focus will be on delivering high-quality care while promoting the rights, wellbeing, and individual needs of each young person in line with our organizational policies.


Main Responsibilities

* Service and Practice Management:
o Ensure high-quality care in compliance with legislation, safeguarding requirements, and Ofsted standards.
o Maintain Health and Safety compliance and ensure staff are well-trained.
o Support accurate record-keeping and contribute to quality assurance systems.
o Promote effective childcare practices and continuous improvement.
o Prepare for and attend internal and external meetings, chairing when necessary.
o Participate in the on-call rota and provide sleep-in cover as needed.
o Produce evaluative reports and oversee documentation to meet regulatory standards.
o Make operational decisions in the absence of the Registered Manager.
* Human Resource Management:
o Assist in the recruitment process, ensuring all safer recruitment checks are completed.
o Support staff induction, supervision, and appraisal in line with expectations.
o Facilitate staff development through mandatory training and CPD.
o Help maintain effective rotas and manage staff expenses.
o Conduct investigations into complaints and disciplinary matters.
* Resource Management & External Relations:
o Assist in monitoring budgets and financial processes.
o Report maintenance issues to ensure safety and compliance.
o Represent the organization positively in all external contacts.
o Liaise with commissioners regarding placements and admissions.


What We’re Looking For

* Commitment to delivering high-quality care and education.
* Experience in leading or managing a team.
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
* Minimum Level 3 Children & Young People qualification.
* Level 5 Leadership & Management, or willingness to complete.
* Understanding of the needs of vulnerable young people.
* Ability to build effective relationships with young people and colleagues.
* Emotional resilience when working with challenging behavior.
* Commitment to equality, diversity, and anti-discriminatory practice.
* Full UK driving licence and access to transport.
* Flexible, reliable, and ready to contribute to organizational development.


Working Conditions

This is a full-time, permanent position requiring 39 hours per week, including sleep-in duties as per the home’s rota. Some office days will be necessary for administrative tasks.
