Overview
The EUNA Region (EUNA) is recruiting a new Managing Director (Unit General Manager internally) for our Water and Environment (WNE) Unit to provide leadership and strategic direction for WNE across the EUNA region. The UGM role will report to the Regional General Manager (RGM) and will be expected to deliver and embed all Group, Regional and Market Strategies within their Units. They will be responsible for establishing a sound knowledge of the market environment in which they operate, building relationships with key clients, winning and delivery of projects and the leadership of their teams. The UGM’s will be a member of the EUNA Executive Team and will be expected to act as an ambassador and voice for Mott MacDonald within the EUNA Region, articulating and representing the brand, vision and value proposition.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
* Strategy & Operations: provide strategic guidance and direction to ensure the Unit’s ambition aligns to and contributes to the group and regional strategies
* Develop and communicate unit business plans, strategic objectives and budgets in collaboration with key stakeholders
* Develop and lead Mott MacDonald’s win and do operations within the appointed Unit
* Grow and nurture external relationships with clients and partners to drive growth and influence business direction
* Collaborate with other Units, Regions and Markets; act as an exemplar ambassador for Mott MacDonald
* Investigate, analyse and manage risks, opportunities, and the competitive landscape to inform Unit strategic plans
* Support Divisional General Managers/Portfolio Leads to win and deliver projects, ensuring STEP processes and BMS requirements are followed
* Role model Health, Safety and Wellbeing for the Unit
* Regularly review performance and Monitor progress against KPIs
* Ensure the Unit achieves objectives and optimises financial performance through innovation and digital capability
* Accountable for overall Unit budgets and continual improvement across Divisions/Portfolios
Culture and People
* Leadership of Divisional General Managers/Portfolio Leads within the Unit
* Lead enabling functions within the unit including HR, Commercial, BD, Win, Technical Excellence, Digital & Operational Management
* Foster an environment where people are motivated, empowered and included
* Support career development, performance management, talent management and succession planning
* Demonstrate leadership with ethical standards and zero tolerance for unacceptable behaviours
Collaboration
* Be part of the EUNA Executive Team; lead the Region and drive continuous improvement; champion Region objectives

Candidate specification
Essential
* Experience of managing teams and/or operational or functional business areas
* Strategic leader with good knowledge of relevant markets and key clients
* Excellent leadership skills to motivate, engage and inspire others
* Strong team-building abilities to deliver exceptional client service
* Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work with others
* Great communication skills to listen, support and direct the Unit
