We're working confidentially with a well-established and fast-growing accountancy practice who are looking to add an Assistant Accountant to their team. This role would suit someone with 1-2 years' experience in practice who is actively studying AAT and keen to broaden their exposure beyond pure processing.
Your new role
Working as part of a friendly and experienced team, you'll support a varied client portfolio and gain hands-on exposure across bookkeeping, VAT and management accounts. This is a client-facing role with plenty of scope to develop your technical skills and progress within the firm.
Responsibilities will include:
* Day-to-day bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients
* Bank and control account reconciliations
* Preparation of VAT returns
* Assisting with monthly and quarterly management accounts
* Reviewing bookkeeping entries and resolving queries
* Supporting clients with cloud accounting software
* Liaising with HMRC when required
What you'll need to succeed
1. 1-2 years' experience within an accountancy practice
2. Studying AAT (Level 2, 3 or early Level 4)
3. Exposure to bookkeeping and VAT
4. Familiarity with cloud software such as Xero, Sage or QuickBooks
5. Good Excel skills and strong attention to detail
