Role Description:
Village Solar is looking for a volunteer
Product Designer / Industrial Designer
to help refine our current clean energy prototype and make it practical and ready for real-world use. The role involves taking the existing components, assembling them into a functional product, and improving the design to ensure it is durable, user-friendly, and easy to operate. You will also help develop clear assembly instructions and user guides so the product can be easily replicated in rural communities.
The designer will work closely with a small team of designers and engineers, participating in weekly meetings to share ideas, provide feedback, and track design changes. You will be responsible for conducting usability tests, iterating the design based on feedback, and maintaining accurate records of all modifications and results. This is a hands-on role where problem-solving, creativity, and attention to detail are essential.
We are looking for someone with experience in product or industrial design, prototyping, and proficiency in 3D CAD tools such as SketchUp, Fusion 360, or SolidWorks. The ideal candidate can work independently, collaborate effectively with a team, and has a strong interest in sustainable development and social impact.
Time Commitment:
Volunteer 10+ hours per week for 1-2 months remotely
