We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Brentford, starting as soon as possible. As a Year 1 Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and creative lessons across the Key Stage 1 curriculum. You will use a range of teaching strategies to ensure learning is accessible, meaningful, and appropriately challenging for all pupils, including those with special educational needs and pupils with English as an additional language. A secure understanding of phonics, early reading, and early numeracy is essential for this role.
You will create a structured, nurturing, and positive classroom environment that promotes independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours. Working closely with teaching assistants, you will support pupils through whole-class teaching, small-group interventions, and targeted support where required. You will also monitor progress closely and use assessment information to inform planning and next steps.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 1 curriculum
* Support pupils transitioning from EYFS into Key Stage 1
* Deliver effective phonics, early reading, and numeracy sessions
* Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and EAL
* Create a positive, inclusive, and well-structured classroom environment
* Monitor pupil progress and maintain accurate assessment records
* Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and KS1 colleagues
* Build positive relationships with parents and carers through clear communication
* Contribute to staff meetings, training, and whole-school initiatives
* Uphold safeguarding procedures and promote pupil wellbeing at all times
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
* Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Have experience teaching in Key Stage 1, ideally Year 1
* Demonstrate strong classroom management and organisational skills
* Be reflective, proactive, and adaptable
* Have a clear commitment to inclusion and safeguarding
* Work effectively as part of a collaborative team
