Interim Finance Manager
£75,000 - £85,000
Hertfordshire
We’re supporting a high-growth, international business to appoint an Interim Finance Manager on an initial 6-month contract. This role is suited to an experienced contractor who can quickly take ownership of core finance operations while driving meaningful process improvement and automation across the function.
This is a genuinely dual-focus role: you’ll be hands-on with BAU delivery (month-end, reporting, controls), while also leading initiatives to streamline processes, reduce manual effort, and improve data integrity. You’ll be working closely with senior finance leadership, operations, and systems teams to embed more scalable, technology-enabled ways of working.
Given the nature of the assignment, we’re looking for someone who can start at short notice and operate with minimal hand-holding from day one.
Key responsibilities:
* Take ownership of monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and full balance sheet reconciliations
* Deliver accurate, timely reporting and meaningful financial insight to senior stakeholders
* Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis across business units
* Act as a key finance partner to operational teams, providing clarity on performance and cost drivers
* Review and optimise existing finance processes, identifying inefficiencies and control gaps
* Lead automation initiatives across reporting and month-end, leveraging tools such as Excel, Power Query, and BI platforms
* Improve data flows between systems and reduce reliance on manual processes
About you:
* Qualified accountant (ACCA / CIMA / ACA or equivalent) or highly experienced QBE
* Proven track record operating in a fast-paced environment
* Strong technical grounding in month-end, balance sheet control, and cash processes
* Demonstrable experience delivering process improvement and/or automation within finance
* Advanced Excel skills, with exposure to Power BI, Power Query, or similar tools
* Confident stakeholder manager, comfortable working with both finance and non-finance teams
* Able to quickly assess, prioritise, and deliver in a live BAU environment
