A small, nurturing primary school in the L27 area is seeking a dedicated Early Years Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about early childhood education and eager to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young children with autism.
About the Role
You will be working within small Early Years classes of 7–9 children, all with autism and varying communication and developmental needs. The school prides itself on providing a calm, structured and highly supportive environment where every child is valued and encouraged to thrive.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support children aged 3–5 in small-group and 1:1 settings
2. Assist with delivering tailored learning activities and sensory‑based tasks
3. Promote communication, independence and emotional regulation
4. Work closely with teachers and support staff to create a positive, inclusive learning environment
5. Contribute to children’s social, emotional and academic development
6. Support with personal care where required
What We’re Looking For
7. A warm, patient and enthusiastic individual
8. Experience with Early Years or SEND is beneficial, but graduates and those new to education are welcome
9. A genuine interest in supporting children with autism
10. Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships
11. A proactive, calm and resilient approach
