Overview
Design Engineering Support Engineer – Location: Bedford. Salary: GBP45,000 per year. Hours: Monday - Thursday, 9am - 5.30pm. Fridays, 9am - 3pm. Job type: Full-time, permanent. Bridge Recruitment is helping one of our established clients recruit for an experienced Design Engineering Support Engineer to join their ever-expanding team.
Responsibilities
* Design support: Assist in the creation and modification of CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation for new and existing products.
* Prototyping and testing: Support prototype builds, testing activities, and data collection to validate and refine product designs.
* Documentation management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date design documentation, ensuring compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
* Cross-functional collaboration: Liaise with R&D, manufacturing, quality, and sourcing teams to gather requirements, resolve queries, and support project deliverables.
* Engineering change management: Assist in the preparation, tracking, and implementation of engineering change requests and documentation.
* Continuous improvement: Contribute to process improvements, cost reduction initiatives, and design optimisation activities.
* Issue tracking: Support the management of reported issues, quality initiatives, and corrective actions as directed by the Design Engineering Lead.
* Team support: Provide general technical and administrative support to the design engineering team, including meeting preparation, minute-taking, and action tracking.
Requirements
* HND/HNC or Bachelors degree in Engineering, Product Design, or equivalent experience.
* Experience in a design engineering or technical support role within a manufacturing environment is desirable.
* Proficiency with CAD tools & PDM systems (e.g., SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Inventor) is a plus.
* Familiarity with Engineering Change Management processes.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with Smartsheets is beneficial.
* Knowledge of relevant standards and directives (e.g., CE, UKCA, ISO) is advantageous.
