Job Summary
The Activities Director is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing engaging activities and programmes for residents in an assisted living or nursing home environment. This role is essential in promoting social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being among seniors, particularly those with dementia or Alzheimer's care needs. The Activities Director will work closely with residents, families, and staff to create a vibrant community atmosphere that enhances the quality of life for all.
Duties
* Develop and organise a diverse range of activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents, including arts and crafts, games, exercise classes, and outings.
* Assess the needs and preferences of residents to ensure activities are meaningful and beneficial.
* Collaborate with nursing staff to integrate therapeutic activities that support cognitive function and physical health.
* Maintain accurate records of resident participation in activities and evaluate the effectiveness of programmes.
* Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote upcoming events and encourage participation.
* Train and supervise volunteers or junior staff involved in activity programmes.
* Ensure that all activities comply with health and safety regulations within the care home environment.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in assisted living or nursing home settings is essential.
* Knowledge of senior care principles, particularly in dementia and Alzheimer's care.
* Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents and their families.
* A background in caregiving or related fields is advantageous.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Creativity and enthusiasm for developing engaging programmes that enhance residents' quality of life.

Pay: £12.21 per hour
