Job Title: Programme & Community Manager

Our client is a vibrant and inclusive community initiative that supports children, parents, and families through culturally relevant programmes rooted in heritage, well-being, education, and community cohesion. We deliver activities such as holiday clubs, language classes (e.g., Yoruba), cultural events, tech clubs, mentoring, and more – all designed to meet the evolving needs of migrant and multicultural communities in Derby, United Kingdom.
Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and compassionate Programme & Community Manager to lead, coordinate, and grow our community programmes and partnerships. You will serve as the key bridge between our stakeholders (families, children, volunteers, partners, and staff), ensuring our programmes are responsive, impactful, and community-led.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, implement, and evaluate community-focused programmes such as language clubs, cultural events, and holiday activities.
* Work closely with families to co-create new offerings based on community needs.
* Develop timetables, lesson plans (with facilitators), and activity schedules.
* Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and quality assurance measures are in place.
* Build trusted relationships with families, young people, community leaders, and local groups.
* Act as a point of contact for families participating in community programmes.
* Coordinate volunteers, facilitators, and mentors to support programme delivery.
* Track programme metrics, attendance, and impact using basic tools (Excel, Airtable, etc.).
* Contribute to reports for funders, local councils, and internal stakeholders.
* Manage budgets, logistics, and resources in collaboration with the leadership team.
* Coordinate communications via WhatsApp, newsletters, and social media (optional).
Person Specification
* Experience in community engagement, project coordination, or programme management.
* Passionate about working with diverse communities, especially children and families.
* Strong organisational and communication skills.
* Cultural competence and familiarity with the Nigerian/West African or migrant community context.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-moving, flexible environment.
* Experience working in schools, youth programmes, or community organisations
* Tech-friendly: Able to use Google Drive, basic project management tools, WhatsApp, etc.
