The Role
:
As a CAD Draughtsperson, you’ll play a critical support role in the design office, transforming technical concepts into production-ready models and drawings. Working closely with experienced Mechanical Design Engineers, you’ll be responsible for:
1. Producing full 3D CAD models based on predefined technical specifications
2. Creating detailed 2D manufacturing drawings for the shop floor
3. Supporting design reviews and collaborating to ensure fit-for-purpose solutions
4. Working on components including gears, bearings, pumps, pipework, and fluid systems
5. Taking ownership of cradle-to-grave design packs from concept to fabrication
CAD work will be a mixture of 2D and 3D using Creo 11 (training available if needed).
The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be a confident CAD technician or engineer with a strong background in metal component design. You’ll be working independently, so self-sufficiency and technical competence are key.
Experience & Attributes Desired:
6. Strong 3D and 2D modelling experience
7. Proficiency in CAD software – ideally Creo, but SolidWorks or Inventor also acceptable
8. Experience working with machined metal components (e.g. jigs, fixtures, block metal)
9. Good understanding of design for manufacture
10. Happy in a focused, quiet office environment
