We are recruiting for full-time and part-time Higher Level Teaching Assistants (8:45-3:45) to join a brand-new specialist school in Knowle West opening this May. This exciting new provision is being launched by an Ofsted Outstanding provider, recognised for delivering high-quality specialist education and outstanding support for children with additional needs. This is a unique opportunity to join as part of the founding team, working together to build a positive, structured, and supportive environment for young people from the very beginning. About the Role You will be supporting secondary-aged pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), many of whom may also experience: Communication and interaction difficulties Sensory processing needs Anxiety and emotional regulation challenges Behaviour that can be complex or challenging As a HLTA, you will take on a key role within the classroom, helping to deliver consistent, engaging support and stepping up to lead learning when needed. The focus is on helping pupils develop independence, confidence, and essential life skills as they prepare for adulthood. Start Early in Fishponds Although the new school opens in September, successful candidates will ideally start sooner at the established site in Fishponds. This gives you the chance to: Learn specialist strategies and routines Build confidence supporting autistic learners Understand the school's expectations and approach Transition smoothly into the new setting as part of a prepared team What You'll Be Doing Leading small group learning and structured activities Supporting teachers with lesson delivery and classroom organisation Delivering targeted interventions to support individual progress Helping to maintain a predictable, structured environment for pupils Modelling effective practice and supporting other LSAs Supporting students with regulation, communication, and engagement Assisting with personal care where required We're Looking For Someone Who: Has experience working with autistic young people, ideally in a school setting Is confident supporting behaviour and emotional regulation Can lead learning activities and support classroom delivery Is calm, consistent, and patient in their approach Works well as part of a team and can support others Is adaptable, proactive, and committed to inclusive education Why Work With Affinity Partnerships?
