Role - IT Systems Engineer

The purpose of this role is to work closely with the IT & Security Manager to deliver support to all services, systems, and applications, ensuring the business remains complaint in all areas of IT.
Proactively identify vulnerabilities and future non-compliance, propose corrective actions to help ensure the business remains secure and complaint.
The role will also include general IT Support cover for the IT Team or when called upon.
Key Accountabilities
* Provide support and administration for bespoke in-house IT Systems and their hosting environment (covering locally written systems and off the shelf solutions, and systems with back-end SQL databases).
* Support, assistance, and any associated administration for all business-critical systems, including but not limited to the ERP System and Business Management System.
* Support the Microsoft Business Application systems and ecosystems, including but not limited to Nav Dynamics Business Central, Power Platform, 365 and SharePoint.
* Ensure full compliance, optimal performance, and minimal downtime.
* Proactively handle and escalate virus outbreaks and cyber threats.
* Proactively identify any vulnerabilities across the IT estate and purpose actions to address accordingly.
* Implement any measures deemed necessary by management to mitigate against any risks identified that would pose a threat to the business, IP, data or assets.
* Schedule and perform all software updates and manage all associated downtime across the estate.
* Ensure corporate and Process Control estates are fully compliant by utilising third party scanning tools and producing technical reports.
* ERP System and Business Management System - liaise with key stakeholders and support vendors to provide system developments and support.
* Responsible for a total virus solution, covering the corporate solution provided by the third-party IT Service Providers and a local solution for the Process Control IT estate.
* Fault call and IT Works Request system owner.
* Assist with regular user responsibility access reviews.
* Assist with corporate, internal, and external IT audits.
* Assist in Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning and testing.
* Assist with IT Strategy and Services Portfolio.
* Assist with IT Project Scoping and definition.
* Contribute to the IT Risk Register.
* Work closely with systems, data, product, and process owners to help identify and document potential or emerging risk.
* Identify and plan for upcoming, new, or changing regulatory considerations and maintain a consolidated view of actions to meet requirements.
* Support the design of new IT and group policies and work closely with other internal departments to ensure IT are aware of and compliant with internal policy requirements.
* Carry out SMAT audits and Positive Safety Conversations.
* Perform other non-essential duties as assigned.
* Provide cover for everyday IT support when required.
* Ensure all duties have a nominated deputy.
* Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications /Experience Required / Person Attributes
* Good knowledge of programming, database configuration and development environments, overall MS ecosystems knowledge, including SQL, MS Access, SharePoint, Business Central
* Proficient experience working with and implementing solutions for virus, malware, ransomware prevention and protection, backup solutions
* Degree Level or Equivalent, or Minimum of 3 years' experience in the relevant working environment
* Proficient experience working with various laptop, desktop and server hardware, operating systems, physical and virtual environments, networking typologies and infrastructure solutions
* Effective use of a call logging system, work request system, change control and asset database management
* ITIL Certification or practical working experience of utilising ITIL framework methodologies - Desirable
* 'Cyber Awareness', Cyber Crisis Management' or equivalent IT Cyber Security training - Desirable
