Diagnostics Software Engineer
Team / Reporting Line
Based within the Diagnostics Engineering team and reporting directly to the Diagnostics Manager.
Role Purpose
To support the development, testing, and validation of diagnostic tools used in both dealer workshops and engineering environments. This role is essential to ensuring our diagnostic systems meet the highest standards of quality and reliability for current and future vehicle platforms.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the development of the existing diagnostic toolset.
* Test diagnostic functionality and releases to ensure robust performance.
* Deliver bug fixes and implement improvements to current tools.
* Develop and validate future diagnostic tools and workflows.
* Process and analyse diagnostic data to support tool improvements.
* Conduct on-vehicle validation of diagnostic functions.
* Assist other departments (Integration, Engineering, Aftersales) with diagnostic-related issues.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Strong experience with VB.NET and/or C#.
- Familiarity with vehicle diagnostics standards (UDS, CAN, DoIP, ODX).
- Hands-on software development experience.
- Experience working cross-functionally with multiple teams.
– Proficient with Git or other version control systems.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
Desirable:
- Java development skills.
- Prior experience working with diagnostic tools at an OEM or Tier 1 supplier.
Qualifications
* Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Location & Working Pattern
* Hybrid working with a minimum of 3 days per week across Wellesbourne and Gaydon sites.
Occasional travel to other company locations
