Job Summary NHS Lanarkshire – University Hospital Wishaw is seeking a Consultant Gastroenterologist with an interest in Hepatology. This substantive post is a key step in establishing a dedicated hepatology service at UHW. The successful candidate will work closely with a full‑time Hepatologist at University Hospital Hairmyres and a part‑time colleague at Monklands, and will lead and support the newly funded Haemochromatosis service.
Responsibilities
Provide clinical care across the NHS Lanarkshire gastroenterology service, including inpatient care, outpatient clinics, endoscopy lists (including ERCP) and general medical take‑overs.
Lead and support the Haemochromatosis service.
Collaborate with Clinical Nurse Specialists and specialist nurses for IBD, liver disease and secretarial support.
Participate in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives and medical education.
Engage in research, development and act as an appraiser as required.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualified Consultant Gastroenterologist with demonstrated interest and experience in hepatology.
Experience working within a multi‑site NHS gastroenterology department.
Ability to develop and support specialist services.
Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and medical education.
