Learning & Inclusion Support Specialist - SEND Provision | Rochdale

Start Date: ASAP | Hours: Full-Time | Contract: Temporary (with potential to become permanent)

Are you driven by the desire to make a meaningful difference in young people's lives? A specialist SEND school in Rochdale is seeking a compassionate and committed Learning & Inclusion Support Specialist to join their team.

In this rewarding position, you will provide consistent 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual needs, work closely with teachers and the SENCO to deliver personalised learning strategies, and support pupils with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), communication needs, learning difficulties, and SEMH.


Responsibilities and Expectations

* Help pupils engage positively with learning and feel secure in their environment.
* Encourage independence, social development, and emotional regulation.
* Adapt your approach to meet the diverse and sometimes complex needs of each pupil.
* Provide 1:1 and small group support on a targeted basis.
* Assist with classroom activities and adapt tasks to meet individual needs.
* Support the delivery of EHCP targets and personalised learning plans.
* Promote positive behaviour and support emotional wellbeing.
* Encourage communication, independence, and social interaction.
* Provide personal care when required, with dignity and respect.
* Contribute to a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
* Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
* Support pupils who may display challenging behaviours in a calm, patient, and nurturing manner.
* Be flexible and willing to support personal care where required.


Requirements

* Experience supporting children or young people with SEN or complex needs in education, care, or similar settings.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to support pupils with communication needs and other challenges.
* Calm, patient, and naturally nurturing approach.
* Good relational and organisational skills.
* Undertake an Enhanced DBS check.
* Provide satisfactory references.
