AFBI is now seeking an enthusiastic, internationally recognised scientist with a high level of expertise and knowledge in the areas of plant health and integrated pest management to join its scientific team and lead our work in this area. The Head of Plant Health and Integrated Pest Management will lead AFBI's work on statutory analysis and research to deliver effective surveillance and diagnostics to primarily protect NI's high plant health status. This will include anticipating and responding to emerging pest and disease threats in support of trade and NI's primary industries, whilst also protecting the environment. The role will also provide leadership to develop and facilitate the uptake of integrated pest management across the NI farming system to ensure that pesticide usage is sustainable and as environmentally benign as possible, while maintaining productivity.
