Applications Engineer
Our Team
We are currently looking for an Applications Engineer to join our Customer Experience team based at our UK headquarters, Cumbernauld, Scotland. You will be supported and mentored to improve your own technical capabilities to enable you to deliver excellent customer experience and improve customer satisfaction.
What You Will Do
Working directly with customers from many international locations and markets, such as high-performance computing, data communications, and finance, you will help them develop technology solutions based on BittWare products. You will:
1. Troubleshoot customer issues, perform hardware/software testing, and replicate customer issues.
2. Develop application notes, white papers, knowledge-base articles to improve customer deployments.
3. Answer pre/post sales technical enquiries, coordinate with internal resources & develop a response plan with Customer Experience Manager.
4. Communicate with customers directly via technical support tracking system, phone, email or in person.
5. Organise and manage multiple requests from an international customer base.
6. Keep up to date with BittWare product portfolio; Embedded x86 platforms, RFSoCs and FPGA technologies.
7. Improve customer deliverables with the help of technical writers and engineers.
8. Occasionally travel to trade shows, or to customer locations for on-site visits and technical support.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
9. Honours degree in Electronic Engineering or a related subject.
10. Knowledge of hardware installation and troubleshooting.
11. Strong technical, analytical and extensive problem-solving skills; ability to troubleshoot and apply debugging procedures.
12. Strong interpersonal and organisational skills; ability to work with a culturally diverse worldwide pool of customers.
13. A proactive mentality; ability to identify areas of improvement and to know when to escalate issues if required.
14. Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with engineers and business staff.
What Will Put You Ahead
15. Experience of working with x86 CPU, RFSoC and FPGA related technologies.
16. Ability to debug and troubleshoot embedded systems, including low-level analysis.
17. Strong analytical skills for diagnosing and resolving customer issues with software/firmware.
18. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or equivalent (e.g., Bash).
19. Strong coding skills in C++ or equivalent languages (e.g., C, Rust).
20. Experience working with real-time operating systems (RTOS) or embedded Linux environments.
