Overview
Following approval from the Department of Education, NHSE was awarded funding to develop a NHS National Supported Internship programme for young people with Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities (LDD) as well as Autism. This unique opportunity supports students within the Choices College Supported Internship programme. We are looking for Learning Support Assistants to work closely with Tutors to deliver the educational outcomes of Employability and Functional Skills qualifications. The role requires working at various sites in the Hampshire or London area.
Responsibilities
* Support SEN pupils on a 1:1 basis in the classroom
* Provide targeted support outside the classroom, such as the intern’s placement
* Work on differentiated activities with groups of students
* Liaise with the tutor to deliver SEN provision
* Support the development of social/emotional skills of the students
* Work with tutors to monitor progress of pupils
* Maintain weekly individual records for each student that meet inspection requirements
Requirements and Qualifications
The post holder will be a confident communicator with students who have a range of learning disabilities and have recent extensive experience in supporting the education of students with SEN on a 1 to 1 basis in the classroom. A passion for supporting students with SEN to meet their full potential is essential for this role. A full driver’s licence and access to a vehicle are essential as the vacancy requires working at various sites in Hampshire or London.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in person. Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.
